I just spoke with two other people this week, They have no idea how to do it. I’m completely blank on using API’s with SC and many other (not so advanced SC users as well). The issue is not how to use tha API but how to integrate it with SC Apps. The documentation for JS/PHP etc on other websites is OK and everybody can go there and learn the API details. I spoke with other users outside of this forum and there is huge lack of examples. In the real life of course the proper function need to retrieve those two by using the ADDRESS. To make it even more simple I’m making temporary assumption that Lattitude/Longtitude coordinates are already given. In this example the database is a Postgres database with the ESRI SDE spatial extension enabled that stores the spatial points in a field called shape and in another case of Postgresql database with Postgis extension enabled the spatial field name is geometry. In some cases these double precision fields are translated to spatial enabled fields that can readily be plotted to gis software like QGIS and ArcGIS. Since many of the data I am dealing with have a spatial reference to geographical locations as points, I wanted to work around a way to use Google basemaps (especially the satellite ones) to be able to add and edit existing locations. These locations in my case are a pair of coordinates in decimal degrees in the WGS 84 coordinate system ( EPSG:4326) stored in two separate fields (of double precision, or float8 – float4 field types) londd for the decimal degrees longitude and latdd fot the decimal degrees latitude. Among many others it offers an option to create controls that can be customized to serve the needed role in the context of the application and are not necessarily bound to the database of the application.
